What the Hell is Psoriasis??

The word psoriasis originates from the Greek word psōriásis (ψωρίασις), which is derived from: Psora (which means itch or itching condition) and -iasis (in medical terms it means a disease or condition).

Psoriasis is an autoimmune condition that speeds up the life cycle of skin cells, leading to red, scaly patches that can be itchy, painful, and emotionally draining. While there is no permanent cure, effective management strategies can significantly improve quality of life.

Approximately 2–3% of the global population, that is around 125 million individuals are affected by psoriasis. Psoriasis can appear at any age,but often has two peaks of onset. The first is between 20–30 years of age and the second between 50–60 years of age.
